Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Overview & Trailer

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a PlayStation 3 action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the sequel to the 2007 game, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Officially announced in the December 2008 issue of Game Informer, the game was released in North America on October 13, 2009, and in Europe on October 16, 2009.

Uncharted 2 features new gameplay mechanics, such as stealth action segments, and will change the climbing mechanic to allow free movement over walls.

Uncharted 2 also features both competitive and co-operative multiplayer. The co-op multiplayer will allow a maximum of three players to take the roles of Nathan and two other 'hero' companions and will feature missions involving gunfights, platforming, and teamwork-based objectives.[7] Players will also need to assist their comrades should they become critically injured or be grabbed by an enemy.

Among Thieves picks up roughly two years after the events of Drake's Fortune. Similar to the previous story, Nathan "Nate" Drake’s (voiced by Nolan North) new adventure revolves around an unsolved historical mystery, the doomed voyage home of Marco Polo from China in 1292. After spending almost 20 years in the court of the Mongol Emperor Kublai Khan, Marco Polo departed with 14 ships and over 600 passengers and crew – but when he arrived at his destination a year and a half later, only one ship remained, and only 18 of the passengers had survived. Although Marco Polo described almost every other aspect of his journeys in minute detail, he never revealed what happened to the ships that were lost.

Uncharted 2 - Greatest Experience Yet, Better Then Most Movies

Gaming has come a long, long way. I still remember being blown away by games like Final Fight and Super Mario World on the SNES. Back then, games were fun and the graphics were breathtaking for its time. Never in a million years would I imagine the pure insanity of games today. (Minor spoiler alert) Never would I have imagined games like Uncharted 2 where the main character starts off struggling for dear life on a train about to fall off a cliff in a snow blizzard. This is insanity at its finest. Its like reading a novel or picture book because it feels beyond the simple concept of video gaming.

Uncharted 2, from start to finish was a blast. It follows the main character, Nathan Drake, as he tries to unfold Marco Polo's lost treasure fleet, but the adventure becomes much more complex and ends up taking the cast half way around the world. The story telling is superb with some of the greatest voice acting heard in a video game. The graphics is such eye candy, you feel like your watching an advance movie or looking at an insanely detailed picture book.

Of course there is multiplayer and co-op modes to chew on, which gives the gamer something better to look forward too after they complete the game. On top of that, there's plenty of secrets and Easter eggs to be unlocked after the game is completed. Overall the game is fantastic, even if you haven't played Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will blow you away. The character Nathan Drake is an obvious cross between Indiana Jones and Lara Croft. He has a particular style about him that gives him an alpha male look. He's a charming man with a one liner joke for every situation. His co-stars Cloe and Elena play big roles in this game as well and you will see them fight by your side as you travel to uncover the secrets of Marco Polo. The developers - Naughty Dog - made this game particularly easier then the first game, so normal mode does feel a tad like a walk in the park. Other modes such as hard and crushing give you somewhat of a challenge but not by much. The scenery in the game is breathtaking and with full 1080p, the game looks absolutely gorgeous when you play it. I recommend this game to anyone looking for a great adventure game and it's absolutely one game you will be playing for years.

Uncharted 2 Beta Impressions

So I've been spending sometime with the Uncharted 2 beta and I must say Naughty Dog lent this game well to the multiplayer scene. Now I am one of those old school types who really disagrees with the argument that every single game that comes out should have some form of multiplayer, because usually one portion of the game suffers greatly for it. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune (2007) was one of the best games I have ever played, it was a great refinement and rejuvenation of the questing, adventure, platforming genre, and offered the type of depth and remembrance that hadn't been seen since the Tomb Raider games on the PS one.

2009 marks the sequel Uncharted 2, in which the multiplayer beta runs from June 2nd to June 28th offering two modes Competitive and Co-Op, I must say both modes were very much fun, its small maps very Gears of Wars style where you spend a lot of time running from cover spot to cover spot but since Uncharted is a platform you have the ability of jumping and climbing up on second story areas, and also the maps worlds while small are a lot more open and free to room. The shooting is tighter than it was in the original game, but it does still have its bugs, when going to pick up ammo it sometimes takes a second before it registers in and melee is a bit overpowered. Any time you are near anyone never even both shooting off your gun just melee all day and the first to land a punch wins. The game is very pick up and play so most people will have no trouble getting into it but since the maps are small you will spend a lot of time getting shot in the back which can get frustrating at times.

Everything else is pretty simplistic, there is the scoreboard that shows while you are dead and awaiting the 10 second respawn time, the game only shows you, your kills during the game (TDM matches in the beta go to first team to hit 50) When the game is over it shows you kills, deaths, and assists and totals up all the points you gained that match and add them to your "overall" score which then increases your rank as you go along. "I hear there are 50 ranks in the beta" http://complexgamer.com/uncharted-2-beta-impressions
